Benton Crossing Landfill to Close December 31st

MONO COUNTY, Calif. (OCTOBER 3, 2022) – Benton Crossing Landfill will officially be closing to the public at the end of the year, with Saturday, December 31, 2022 marking the last day of operation.  Beginning Monday, January 2, 2023, all Benton Crossing Landfill customers will be directed to the Pumice Valley Landfill and Transfer Station (Pumice Valley Landfill).  All other local solid waste facilities and services will remain available.

The Pumice Valley Landfill is located approximately five miles east of U.S. 395 on Hwy 120 East.  Landfill operations are overseen by Mono County Solid Waste; this includes burial of Construction and Demolition waste, as well as the processing of Clean Wood Waste which is beneficially re-used on site.

PUMICE VALLEY LANDFILL HOURS OF OPERATION (Effective 01/02/23)

  • Monday – Saturday: 8AM – 4PM

The hours of operation represent the hours that the gate is open.  As such, it is important to plan trips to these facilities accordingly to ensure that customers are ready to exit the facility by closing time.  Customers who attempt to enter the facility without adequate time to dump their waste or recyclables may be turned away.

Until January 2, 2023, Pumice Valley Landfill will remain open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 7:30AM – 3:30PM.  For questions regarding Pumice Valley Landfill operations, please contact Mono County Solid Waste at (760) 932-5400.
