Mono County Board of Supervisors Adopts Resolution Appointing Christopher Mokracek as Interim Director of Emergency Management

UPDATE (08/09/22): On Tuesday, August 9th, the Mono County Board of Supervisors approved a Resolution appointing Christopher Mokracek as Director of Emergency Management.

MONO COUNTY, Calif. (July 20, 2022) – On Tuesday, the Mono County Board of Supervisors adopted a Resolution approving an employment contract with Chief Christopher Mokracek as Mono County’s first Interim Director of Emergency Management.  Under direction of the County Administrative Officer, the Director of Emergency Management is responsible for managing Mono County’s Office of Emergency Services, and developing, maintaining, and coordinating countywide multi-hazard and disaster response plans, among other duties.  Mr. Mokracek most recently served as Emergency Medical Services Chief for Mono County.

“Chief Mokracek has both the experience and background to lead the new Office of Emergency Services,” said Bob Gardner, Chair of the Mono County Board of Supervisors.  “Disasters are occurring at a more frequent rate, and the Mono County Board of Supervisors felt the establishment of a department to address preparedness, response, and recovery was critical to the safety and well-being of our residents and visitors.”

In addition to his various roles with Mono County, Chief Mokracek also has extensive emergency management training and experience, including serving as the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Director throughout much of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic response.  Chief Mokracek is a Type III All Hazard Incident Commander, and has Incident Command System (ICS) training, Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS) training, National Incident Management System (NIMS) training, and has completed the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Professional Development Series.
