- Anyone can apply — individuals, couples, or families.
- You don’t need to own a home — apartments and condos are welcome.
- Resource Families come from all backgrounds — every race, religion, and culture.
Becoming a Resource Family Home means becoming an important part of a child’s life. The goal is to give children in need a sense of safety, stability, and well-being.
Basic Requirements
To be a Resource Family, you will need to:
- Live in Mono County
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have an income that meets your family’s needs
- Have adequate bedroom space for all family members, including foster children
- Ensure your home (inside and out) is safe and in good condition
The Application Process
Before becoming a Resource Family, you must complete an application and home approval process. The Department of Social Services will guide you every step of the way and provide ongoing support once you are approved.
