UPDATE: June Lake Fire Incident Update (Friday morning update)

The June Fire remains at 65 acres and is 65% contained. Last night the fire continued to burn in heavy fuels on the ground. Firefighters were successful in cooling remaining hot spots along the fires edge while multiple crews continued to mop up again focusing on containment lines in and around homes.

Please note that there is a community meeting tonight at 7:00pm, at the June Lake Community Center. Citizens are welcome to attend. Personnel from the US Forest Service will be on hand to talk about the fire and answer any questions the community has.

All evacuation requirements have been lifted as of 2:00pm yesterday.

Hwy 158 is open. If you are traveling through June Lake, please be aware of fire crews and equipment in the roadway. Please travel safely for the safety of the firefighters and for yourselves.

June Lake is open for fishing and recreation. Gull Lake remains closed as fire crews may still need to use the lake for water needs.

There have been several inquiries into the smoke that is currently very heavy throughout Mono County. There is not a new fire in our area. This smoke is from the Kings Fire that is burning in El Dorado/Placer counties.

Numerous resources from California Office of Emergency Services, CHP, Cal Trans, Cal Fire, Mono County, Inyo County, local fire departments, US Forest Service, and BLM are continuing to assist.

These include:
10 Hand Crews, 16 Engines, 2 Helicopters, 3 Dozers, 3 Water Tenders for a total of 369 personnel.
